Piedra del Tabor
Like a scale model of the famous Piedra del Peñol, this colossal monolithic rock overlooks the municipality from the top of the mountains and offers panoramic views of the area, including much of the Magdalena River valley. If you climb on a clear day, you might even catch a glimpse of the Nevado del Ruiz glacier.
The journey to the top of the monolith is as impressive as the landscapes you'll see from there, as you must cross a dense forest filled with birdsong to reach it. The hike isn't long, but it involves an ascent of approximately 800 meters, and parts of the trail are lost in the thick forest, so it's recommended that you hire a local guide.

If you enjoy exploring and discovering waterfalls, this is the ideal destination for you. The peaks surrounding San Carlos capture rainwater, transforming it into cascades of all kinds. The most notable is La Cascada, where a wide river spills over flat rocks and divides into two waterfalls before forming a popular spa.
